THE NEW BENCHMARK
After more than four years of development, PIEPS presents a new, groundbreaking avalanche transceiver that heralds a new era: the PIEPS PRO IPS with 80m search strip width and an especially stable transmission and search performance thanks to its INTERFERENCE PROTECTION SYSTEM (IPS) and DUAL ANTENNA SIGNAL PROCESSING (DASP) technology.
These groundbreaking innovations make the PIEPS PRO IPS the absolute benchmark of avalanche beacons. The Interference Protection System reduces the influence of interference in transmit mode as best as possible. DASP enables unprecedented signal stability during search through simultaneous signal processing of the X and Y antennas.
“THE BETTER YOU SEND,
THE EASIER YOU ARE TO FIND”
The PIEPS PRO IPS is our most advanced avalanche beacon with an impressive 80m search strip width. It sets a new standard with its industry-leading transmit and search performance, thanks to the advanced Interference Protection System and Dual Antenna Signal Processing.
The PIEPS app makes updating and managing the device’s settings super easy and helps you create training scenarios for avalanche rescue.
INTERFERENCE PROTECTION SYSTEM (IPS)
This unique technology compensates for the influence of electronic and metallic interference to the transmitting device by analyzing and adapting to the interfering source. Thus, the PIEPS PRO IPS delivers the maximum transmit power. Therefore, in case of emergency, users of the PIEPS PRO IPS are better protected against interferences from personal items which could minimize the transmitting power.
Electronic products can cause a variety of interference.
With the IPS system, we are able to compensate for a large part,
but due to their diversity, we cannot exclude all interferences.
Thus, we still recommend a minimum distance of
20 cm in transmit mode and 50 cm in search mode to possible sources of interference.
DUAL ANTENNA SIGNAL PROCESSING
The already leading signal tracking quality of PIEPS has been
increased even further with the PIEPS PRO IPS.
The PIEPS PRO IPS processes the signal simultaneously on the X and Y antenna, which is a unique innovation among avalanche transceivers.
This ensures an even
more precise localization of the transmitted signal, effective elimination of
ghost signals and a very high range. Thus, users see upon the very first signal, an extremely reliable and stable direction indication.
SCAN FUNCTION
Keep track of everything! This feature provides a quick overview of the situation in a multiple burial situation and displays the number of buried persons in a specific distance intervals.
VICTIM SELECTION
Create a situation-optimized search strategy! In detailed SCAN mode, the transceiver displays direction and distance for each burial to enable a targeted rescue strategy.
GROUP CHECK PRO-MODE
Check like a PRO! Efficiently verify that the beacons in the group are transmitting and receiving correctly.
INCLINOMETER
The inclinometer function shows the steepness of the terrain.
ADVANCED SEARCH CONTROL
Visual, acoustic and haptic support during the search. Prompts for reversal in case of wrong direction approach (180° error).
AUTO ANTENNA SWITCH
Always uses the antenna with the strongest signal.
GHOST SIGNAL ELIMINATION
PIEPS’ sophisticated signal verification only displays signals from avalanche beacons and no “ghost signals” from other sources.
AUTO SEARCH-TO-SEND
In the event of a secondary avalanche, the avalanche beacon automatically switches from search to send after a certain period of inactivity (motion sensor does not register movement).
DEEP BURIAL RECOGNITION
The PRO IPS is capable of detecting and indicating deep burials over 2m.
BACKUP MODE
Backup Mode is intended for rescuers in passive search tasks, like probing or shoveling. Here, the Backup Mode mutes the “SEND” signal when device is in SEND position so other searchers can focus on the signal of the buried victim. Transmitting (sending) automatically resumes when no movement is detected for a predetermined time (the Auto-Revert timeout), preceded by a 30 second countdown.
“SEND & SEARCH LIKE A PRO”
The PIEPS PRO SERIES is made for all professionals and experts in mountain sports.
Whether mountain guide, ski guide or rescue team, devices of this series offer the latest technology and best performance in any situation.
Mountain guides, instructors, as well as athletes appreciate this series and rely on its high performance and reliability during their work.
DID YOU KNOW?
Range specifications are not standardized, nor is there a central body that determines the range. This is up to the manufacturers! In the following section, we explain how we define our stated range:
Range definitions
CIRCULAR RECEIVING RANGE:
PIEPS devices have a so-called “circular receiving range”. This means that the X and Y antennas are equally strong during the coarse search (max. 10% power difference in the best coupling position).
This almost circular reception characteristic leads to a simpler and more efficient coarse search. With antennas of different strengths, on the other hand, an elliptical reception characteristic results, which means that the device has a shorter reception range to its side than to the front or rear.
USEFUL RANGE:
With Useful Range, we specify the range at which a constant signal can still be received even in the worst case, i.e. with the most unfavorable coupling position between the transmitter and the search device.
SEARCH STRIP WIDTH:
The search strip width indicates the range that counts in an emergency. How wide can I choose my search section to be sure that I will locate the buried victim(s) if they are in this area?
The search strip width we recommend is double the USEFUL RANGE. Double because this range covers two directions. This means to the front and to the rear, as well as to the left and to the right. With a recommended search strip width of 60 m, you can therefore pass through the middle of an avalanche cone with a width of 60 m, as you have a range of 30 meters to the left and right. As our recommended search strip width is based on the USEFUL RANGE, we also cover the most unfavorable scenario.
Max Range
Specifies the range from which stable initial reception is possible in the best coupling position. For us, stable initial reception means that 8 out of 10 pulses are correctly detected.
It can be wild out there!
We work hard to create products that keep you safe in the mountains. It is essential that you are familiar with your avalanche beacon, probe and shovel. Practice with your friends and have fun on your adventures!
