"ALWAYS POWDER WITH PIEPS"

True to this motto, the avalanche beacons of the PIEPS POWDER SERIES  are suitable for everyone, whether for ski touring, ski mountaineering or freeriding.

Devices in this series are easy to use and feature exclusive PIEPS safety technology, without compromise.

The PIEPS POWDER BT is easy to operate, thoughtfully designed and solidly built.

With the included Bluetooth technology and the PIEPS APP, the settings can be managed the firmware can be updated and the functionality can be tested. The app offers several training scenarios to improve your rescue skills.

AUTO ANTENNA SWITCH
Always uses the antenna with the strongest signal in case of interference.

GHOST SIGNAL ELIMINATION
Equipped with Pieps Advanced Signal Verification, the Powder BT displays only signals from beacons and not “ghost signals” from other sources.

AUTO SEARCH-TO-SEND
In the event of a secondary avalanche, the avalanche beacon automatically switches from search to send after a certain period of inactivity (motion sensor does not register any movement).

GROUP CHECK MODE
The quick and easy way to make sure that the avalanche beacons in the group are transmitting correctly.

DID YOU KNOW?

Range specifications are not standardized, nor is there a central body that determines the range. This is up to the manufacturers! In the following section, we explain how we define our stated range:

Range definitions

CIRCULAR RECEIVING RANGE:

PIEPS devices have a so-called “circular receiving range”. This means that the X and Y antennas are equally strong during the coarse search (max. 10% power difference in the best coupling position).
This almost circular reception characteristic leads to a simpler and more efficient coarse search. With antennas of different strengths, on the other hand, an elliptical reception characteristic results, which means that the device has a shorter reception range to its side than to the front or rear.

USEFUL RANGE:

With Useful Range, we specify the range at which a constant signal can still be received even in the worst case, i.e. with the most unfavorable coupling position between the transmitter and the search device.

SEARCH STRIP WIDTH:

The search strip width indicates the range that counts in an emergency. How wide can I choose my search section to be sure that I will locate the buried victim(s) if they are in this area?
The search strip width we recommend is double the USEFUL RANGE. Double because this range covers two directions. This means to the front and to the rear, as well as to the left and to the right. With a recommended search strip width of 60 m, you can therefore pass through the middle of an avalanche cone with a width of 60 m, as you have a range of 30 meters to the left and right. As our recommended search strip width is based on the USEFUL RANGE, we also cover the most unfavorable scenario.

Max Range

Specifies the range from which stable initial reception is possible in the best coupling position. For us, stable initial reception means that 8 out of 10 pulses are correctly detected.

It can be wild out there!

We work hard to create products that keep you safe in the mountains. It is essential that you are familiar with your avalanche beacon, probe and shovel. Practice with your friends and have fun on your adventures!
