Emergency position data will be sent to „GEOS Response“ (International Emergency Response Coordination Center – IERCC). This data plus user data will be indicated at the IERCC global alerting monitor. Several measures are initiated simultaneously:
- alerting of the responsible local rescue organisation
- short message answer to your Globalfinder in your language, known by your device registration at the PIEPS ONLINE SERVICE PORTAL (the IERCC guarantees communication in 200 languages)
- establishing contacts to the persons declared at the PIEPS ONLINE SERVICE PORTAL
Example „Emergency at sea“:
You get distress at sea – you press the SOS button at your PIEPS GLOBALFINDER IRIDIUM – the emergency call and your position data will be sent to GEOS – GEOS recognizes an emergency at sea and initiates several measures simultaneously: 1) activation of the local sea rescue service. 2) short message answer to your Globalfinder in your language. 3) establishing contacts to the declared persons.
Example „Emergency in the mountains“:
You get into distress in the mountains – you press the SOS button at your PIEPS GLOBALFINDER IRIDIUM – the emergency call and your position data will be sent to GEOS – GEOS recognizes an emergency in the mountains and initiates several measures simultaneously: 1) activation of the local mountain rescue service. 2) short message answer to your Globalfinder in your language. 3) establishing contacts to the declared persons.

The PIEPS GLOBALFINDER IRIDIUM simultaneously works with two different satellite systems:
GPS | navigation
GPS (Global Positioning System), also known as NAVSTAR GPS, is a global satellite navigation system that provides location and time information.
The PIEPS GLOBALFINDER IRIDIUM uses NAVSTAR GPS for any function regarding navigation:
- positioning
- height determination
- general GPS functions (waypoint setting, goto function, track saving, trackback function)
IRIDIUM | communication
IRIDIUM is a system of 66 active satellites used for worldwide voice and data communication.
The PIEPS GLOBALFINDER IRIDIUM uses IRIDIUM for any function regarding communication:
- messaging to mobile phones, email-adresses and social networks
- SOS: emergency call to an emergency coordination center (GEOS Response) together with your GPS position
- LIVE-Tracking: real time position tracking via online maps
